Many familiar faces in the finals after this week. A few new comers though who are rewarded for their progress in recent years. Should be a fun quartet of games in Waco next week.
Division I
Dallas Parish
Episcopal over Houston St. Thomas (42-7) -- Correct
--The Panthers continue to dominate TAPPS largest division as they eschew the best from District 2 with ease to reach a 4th straight state final.
Plano Prestonwood Christian over Fort Worth Nolan (56-21) -- Correct
--The Lions have been 2nd best in Division II all year. They'll get a 2nd chance to climb the ladder to first with a title game rematch.
Division II
Fort Worth Christian over Fort
Worth All Saints (8-35) -- Wrong
--Saints have found their stride as the postseason begins and reach their first TAPPS football state final. FWC falls in an early hole for the 3rd week in a row, but is unable to dig out of it this time. An undefeated November sends All Saints from 3rd place in district to the title game.
Sugar
Land Fort Bend Christian over Houston Second Baptist (41-14) -- Correct
--These two can not beat each other twice in a season. Last year SBS turned the regular season table. This year FBCA does the same. I didn't think Fort Bend would win so handily, but an impressive margin to reach the title game. A matchup of first time TAPPS finalists will decide the title in the wide open Division II.
Division III
Dallas Christian over Lubbock
Trinity Christian (35-0) -- Correct
--Chargers defense controlled this one start to finish. A couple of turnover bounces extended the margin a bit, but the Lions had a difficult time offensively from start to finish. Last year's Division II and III champions meet for the Division III crown next week.
--Warriors were down 11 with 8:15 to play and scored the final 15 points of the game to take the victory. The quest for back-to-back titles encounters a clash of 2021 champions next week for the title.
Division IV
Lubbock
Christian School over Bryan Brazos Christian School (65-0) -- Correct
--Lubbock Christian dominates all the way through. Either a district title game rematch or the defending champs looking for a 5-peat awaits in the title game.
Shiner St. Paul Catholic over Muenster Sacred Heart (37-21) -- Correct
--The Cardinals are an unstoppable force in the Division IV playoffs. No matter how many losses they might take in the regular season, when the playoffs arrive St. Paul wins. They'll try for 5 titles in a row next Saturday.
Week 14: 6-2
Season: 78-30
Quick Hits finishes the season at 96-34
